Pennsylvania to be first stop on Simon-Garfunkel reunion tour

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — Fans in northeastern Pennsylvania will get first crack at seeing the Simon and Garfunkel reunion tour.

Ticket sales began Friday morning for the legendary folk-rock duo’s first stop Oct. 16 in Wilkes-Barre Township. The rest of the tour is set mostly in large cities, including Cleveland, Chicago, Denver, New York and Philadelphia.

Apartment board hasn’t got time for the pain of Carly Simon

New York — Singer Carly Simon, denied ownership in the swank Dakota apartment house, has sued to get back a $99,000 down payment she made on a one-bedroom apartment, but the would-be sellers contend that it’s her fault the deal fell through.

Simon, 58, was “rude and disrespectful” during a May interview with the Dakota’s board of directors, which later rejected her application to buy the $990,000 apartment, an attorney for apartment owners Laurence and Holly Stone said in a letter to Simon’s lawyer.

Simon’s hits include “Haven’t Got Time for the Pain,” “Anticipation,” “You’re So Vain” and “Nobody Does it Better.”

Ferrell a curious choice for film

Los Angeles — Comedian Will Ferrell has signed on to provide the voice of The Man in the Yellow Hat in an upcoming cartoon version of “Curious George,” the children’s tale about an inquisitive little monkey and the man who befriends him.

The film is planned for release in November 2005, Universal Pictures announced Friday. In the movie, the troublemaking primate is taken from the jungle and brought by The Man in the Yellow Hat to the city, where he gets into mischief.

The story is based on the children’s book created by H.A. Rey and first published in 1941.

Lowe explains Emmy absence

New York — Rob Lowe says he wanted to be on stage with his former castmates when NBC’s “The West Wing” won its fourth Emmy last Sunday, but felt it wasn’t appropriate.

“I wanted to go up because, you know, that was my last year and I was a part of that show as well, but I feel like an athlete that’s now playing for another team,” he told “Access Hollywood.”

The 39-year-old actor left “The West Wing” last season. His new legal drama, “The Lyon’s Den,” premieres today on NBC.

Lowe says he’s feeling some pressure about “The Lyon’s Den,” but says he’s up to the challenge.
