NOS pounds Haskell

? Haskell Indian Nations University’s football team knew it faced a tough opponent Saturday in No. 4-ranked Northwestern Oklahoma State, and the Rangers didn’t disappoint, beating the Fightin’ Indians, 42-0, at Ranger Field.

Haskell (2-2) managed just 107 yards of total offense.

Quarterback Peter Hahn threw for 125 yards and wide receiver Chris Muniz, who had 104 receiving yards, added 18 passing yards.

The Indians’ ground game was troubled, however, amassing minus-36 yards. Chad Murphy led HINU with 35 rushing yards.

Haskell punted fifteen times.

Northwestern Oklahoma (3-0) had a solid day offensively, amassing 353 total yards and five touchdowns.

The Fightin’ Indians can take solace in the loss because the 42-point deficit was an improvement on their three previous meetings with the Rangers; Haskell had been outscored by an average of 61-4.

Haskell has an open date Saturday, then plays host to Southwestern Assemblies of God U. at 2 p.m. Oct. 4. The SAGU game will be the Fightin’ Indians’ homecoming.
