Frances M. Brown

? Graveside services for Frances M. Brown, 86, Ottawa, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.

Mrs. Brown died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at her home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Ottawa, the daughter of Mark Thurber and Nettie Marie (Adamson) Rice.

Mrs. Brown graduated from Ottawa High School in 1935. She and her husband owned and operated Brown’s Hardware in Ottawa from 1950 until 1978.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Quilters Guild, Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and OK Extension Homemaker Unit. She also served as a Brownie, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts leader.

She married Harry E. Brown on Oct. 16, 1939, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jill Ann Reimer, Spring, Texas, and Janice Marie McCarson, Arlington, Texas; a son, Fred H. Brown, Branson, Mo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Monday and until the service hour Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where the family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice of Franklin County Cancer Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
