Midwest Digital announces the return of Matt Mauldin as its outside sales manager. Mauldin had previously worked for Midwest Digital from 1997 to 1998 as an outside sales representative. He will be responsible for all outside sales staff covering the Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska markets. Midwest Digital is an authorized representative of Nextel Communication and AT&T Wireless.

Sara Johnston recently joined Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s Kreider Rehabilitation Center South as a physical therapist. She performs patient assessments, establishes a plan of care and assesses the effectiveness of the treatment. Her duties also include educating the patient and family on care issues.
Johnston previously spent four years working at Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital, where she specialized in neuromuscular re-education services.
Johnston has a bachelor of science in education from Kansas University and a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine, St. Augustine, Fla.

Ottawa University recently opened its new Career Services Center. The center will provide a link between Kansas businesses and students and alumni seeking employment.
Susan Webb, career services coordinator, will work with businesses to identify qualifications, learn more about their needs, and find students or alumni who would be a good fit for available jobs.
Additionally, the center will schedule on-campus interviews, develop career fairs and work with businesses to promote employment opportunities. Companies needing to fill a vacancy should contact the Career Services Center at (785) 242-5200, ext. 1067.

Janelle Phillips, William Crowe, Randy DeWitt and Dawn Tlumac have joined Lawrence-based Landplan Engineering.
Phillips, project engineer, has nearly 10 years of engineering and project management experience. Her responsibilities include technical oversight and project management of the firm’s municipal, commercial and residential projects.
Phillips received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Kansas University in 1994 and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas State University in 2001. She previously was a project manager in Denver.
Crowe, a 1997 KU graduate, is an engineer I. He will provide design support for the firm’s infrastructure projects and construction inspection services. He previously worked for a Kansas City engineering firm.
DeWitt, a 2003 KU graduate, is an engineer I in the firm’s Kansas City, Mo., office. He will provide design support for stormwater collection and detention, wastewater collection, water distribution and street projects.
Tlumac is a receptionist and administrative assistant in the Kansas City, Mo., office. She provides administrative support for civil engineering, landscape architecture and park planning projects.

Clinton Parkway Animal Hospital, Lawrence, again has received accreditation after a comprehensive evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Assn. The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital’s facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health care management. About 15 percent of small-animal veterinary facilities in the United States are accredited hospital members of the association.

The Rejuvene Salon and Day Spa has relocated at 27th and Iowa streets. It also has expanded into a full-service salon and day spa. Rejuvene offers services performed by artistic design stylists, board certified massage therapists, licensed estheticians, make-up artists and nail technicians.
The business is owned by Marcia Butell and Judy Hermann. Butell is a nationally board certified massage therapist, a licensed esthetician and a health educator. Hermann has been an artistic designer for 30 years as well as a color specialist and a salon educator.
Honors and awards
Trena Triplett Rausch, an employee at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, recently was granted the first Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Assn. She met the requirements by earning seven continuing education units or 70 hours in a 36-month period.
Rausch joins a select group of individuals who have made a personal effort to continue professional learning beyond an academic degree.
Rausch works as a speech-language therapist in Kreider Rehabilitation Services at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Kansas Auctioneer Assn. president John Shoemaker, Tonganoxie, presented the 2003 champion belt, buckle and plaque to Bob McBride, Rock, as the Kansas Champion Auctioneer. The KAA’s bid call contest was Sept. 10 in Hutchinson during the Kansas State Fair. Other area competition finalists were: Lester Edgecomb, Baldwin; Robert Baker, Meriden; and Anthony Conser and Andy Conser, Valley Falls.

A meeting about investing in East Kansas Agri-Energy’s ethanol plant in Garnett will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Anderson County High School in Garnett.
The project has raised more than $8 million in commitments toward the construction of the plant. The proposed plant has attracted the attention of nonlocal investors, but EKAE board members say they want and need more area support to maintain local control and to ensure the success of the project.
EKAE is licensed to sell ownership units in the project at a price of $1,000 per unit with a minimum purchase of 10 units through Jan. 24.
