Stephani and Mark Howarter

Stephani Schmidt and Dr. Mark Howarter, both of Lawrence, were married June 21, 2003, in Kearney, Mo., with the Rev. Drew Newman officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Gary and Diane Schmidt, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The groom is the son of Jerry and Pamela Howarter, Garnett.

Maid of honor was Nicole McCune. Best men were Jamie Howarter and Matt Howarter. Bridesmaids were Kelly Quinn and Tammy Davis. Groomsman was Scott Wittman. Ushers were David Howarter, Kelly Schmidt and Ryan Schmidt.

A reception was given at The Elms Resort and Spa in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

The bride is a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Northwest Missouri State University. She received a master’s degree in counseling at Kansas University. She is a child and family assessment specialist at Juniper Gardens Children’s Project in Kansas City, Kan.

The groom is a graduate of Anderson County High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in human biology and a doctorate from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo. He has owned and operated the Chiropractic Experience, Lawrence, for four years.

Zgonena-Woydziak

Jennifer and Brian Woydziak

Jennifer L. Zgonena, Riverwoods, Ill., and Brian J. Woydziak, Lawrence, were married Aug. 23, 2003, in Groton, Conn., with Eugene J. Spazziani officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Paul and Nancy Zgonena, Riverwoods, Ill. The groom is the son of Larry and Connie Woydziak, Lawrence.

The bride is a graduate of Deerfield High School, Deerfield, Ill. She received a degree in psychology and communication studies from Kansas University. She works at Pfizer Inc. in the veterinary medicine pharmaceuticals discovery department.

The groom is a Lawrence High School graduate. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1999 and is now a sonar technician submarine 2nd class. He is completing his course of study in submarine sonar technology. At the end of October, he will be reassigned to active duty aboard the USS Louisville, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where the couple will relocate.

The couple reside in Groton, Conn.

Christopher and Fonda Rose

Fonda Kay Adams and Christopher Andrew Rose were married July 28, 2003, at the Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The couple had a reception and buffet dinner Aug. 9 at The Lodge in Baldwin.

The bride is the daughter of Larry and Barbara Adams, Council Grove. The groom is the son of David and Shirley Rose, Baldwin. The couple’s grandparents are Jack and Una Adams, Council Grove; Wilma Rose, Baldwin, and John and Opal Fritts, Ottawa.

The bride graduated from Council Grove High School and Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She is a physical education teacher at Ottawa Middle School. The groom graduated from Baldwin High School and Emporia State University with a degree in education. He is a physical education teacher at Wellsville Middle School.

The couple reside in Baldwin.
