The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 10. Seven pairs competed in a stratified game that used a Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Harry Talley and Don Daugherty finished first in A. Ilse Steinhardt and Betty Spalsbury finished second. Jan Darting and Janet Williams placed third in A and first in B and C.

Playing North-South, Harry Shaffer and Lois Clark finished in first place. Erna Holmes and Frances Vogel placed second. Patt Radford and Betty Collier placed third. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd finished first in B. Judy Bevan and Linda Heavin placed first in C.

Competing East-West, Gary Joyce and Mary Joyce claimed first place in A, B and C. Nita Scales and Mary Beth Treece placed second in A, B and C. Klee Zaricky and Sally Taylor took third in A and B.

Competing North-South, Martie Hartman and Pat Burgstahler claimed first place in A, B and C. Jiambo Zhang and Harry Shaffer placed second. Don Brennaman and Olivier Urruty took third in A and second in B.

Sitting East-West, Patt Radford and John Hickey finished in first place. Dave Piro and Donna Johnson came in second. Paul Heitzman and Virginia Seaver placed third. Russell LaForce and Phyllis Brownlee placed first in B. Cathy Blumenfeld and Mike Blumenfeld came in first in C.

  • The University Bridge Club announces winners of its Sept. 13 game. Don Binns, Mildred Hoffman, Florence McNicoll and Alice Akins were hosts.

The blue winners were Harold Riehm, first; Henry Wigington, second; Marian Davis, third; Marian Lange, fourth; and Tom Waller, fifth.

The pink winners were Ailene Bocquin, first; Gini Wigington, second; Donna Riehm, third; Lois Liebert, fourth; and Jane Golden, fifth.
