Flora E. Underwood Thompson
Services for Flora E. Underwood Thompson, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at her home.
She was born June 26, 1918, in Lawrence, the daughter of William V. and Elizabeth Richardson Underwood. She attended Kansas University.
Mrs. Thompson was an administrative assistant in the human development and family life department at KU from 1966 to 1983. She was the KU Employee of the Year in 1981. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority, KU Alumni Association, Kaw Valley Quilters Guild and several bridge clubs.
She married W. Kenneth Thompson on Nov. 25, 1937, in Olathe. He died July 21, 1963.
Survivors include three daughters, Sara Jean Watson, Shawnee, Rebecca Sullivan, Topeka, and Sue Ann Rademacher, Longmont, Colo.; two sons, Robert K. Thompson, Spring Hill, and Dale B. Thompson, Lawrence; two sisters, Sara Jean Green, Baldwin, and Gertrude Graves, Granite Bay, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice or KU’s human development and family life department, sent in care of mortuary.
