Virgil Orval Damewood Jr.

Olathe ? Graveside services for Virgil Orval Damewood Jr., 77, Olathe, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.

Mr. Damewood died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born March 4, 1926, in Independence, Kan. He graduated from Independence High School in 1944.

Mr. Damewood joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served with distinction in the South Pacific. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Independence. He later moved to Olathe with his family.

He married W. Joyce Watkins on June 10, 1949, in Independence. She died July 18, 1988.

Survivors include a son, Tom, Olathe; two daughters, Jane Bohrer, Bridgeport, Texas, and Anne Burgett, Olathe; a sister, Barbara Yoe, Oklahoma City; a brother, Bob, Claremore, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
