Jacksonville State ready for UNA
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. ? Jacksonville State football coach Jack Crowe knows his team’s defense will be put to the test today when the Gamecocks face the North Alabama.
“The challenge on the defensive side of the ball is one that is a little more mysterious to us,” said Crowe, whose team plays Kansas next Saturday in Lawrence. “They (UNA) have got a new defensive coordinator and show some different looks.”
During the Gamecocks’ 9-3 season-opening win at Alabama A&M, JSU established a strong running game. Senior running back Kory Chapman rushed for 108 yards, and the Gamecocks were able to win the time-of-possession battle by a slim 32-second margin.
Quarterback Maurice Mullins connected on 8-of-14 attempts.
“We got some really good things started against Alabama A&M,” Crowe said. “We will still be playing a very young quarterback, who got through a very tough situation on the road. That I am very proud of.”
