• The family of Hibbard Taul invites friends and family to an open house in honor of Hibbard’s 90th birthday. The event will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Vintage Park Assisted Living Facility, 321 Crimson Ave., in Baldwin.

Hibbard was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Paradise, Mo.

• Elizabeth Anne Phelps, Lawrence, has been selected by Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Va., for honors admission for the fall of 2003. Phelps is the daughter of David and Karen Phelps, Lawrence. To receive honors admission, students must have an outstanding high school performance record and SAT scores.
• Norzafarin Wedel, Lawrence, received a Bachelor of General Studies degree at Fort Hays State University during the summer 2003 term.
