KANSAS CITY, KAN. ? A woman has been charged with supplying alcohol to her daughter and other high school students and driving around with the teens, drinking and spray-painting street signs.

Bonnie S. Brown, 45, of Kansas City, Kan., turned herself in Wednesday. She was charged Friday with contributing to a child’s misconduct and criminal damage, both felonies. She also faces one misdemeanor count of endangering a child and six misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Authorities began investigating Brown after her daughter and another 15-year-old girl were seriously injured in a car accident about 1 a.m. on July 28 in the Piper area. Police said officers could smell alcohol on the girls’ breath, and alcohol and beer containers were in the vehicle.

Through the investigation, police learned that Brown allegedly had encouraged her daughter and three of her friends to spray-paint ’06 — their graduation year — on traffic signs. Brown also is alleged to have participated in spray-painting signs on another occasion.

None of the girls has been charged in either spray-painting incident.

On a third occasion, Brown was allegedly drinking and driving around the Piper area with her daughter and three other girls.

She faces over $200,000 in fines and nearly 70 months in jail on all the charges if convicted.
