Amon Reeves

? Services for Amon Reeves, 65, Russell, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pohlman’s Memorial Chapel in Russell. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lucas Cemetery.

Mr. Reeves died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at his home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Stratton, Miss., the son of Amon and Biddy Cleo (Bullman) Reeves. He grew up in Newton, Miss., and attended school there, graduating from Newton High School in 1956. He moved to Russell in 1999.

Mr. Reeves served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves and eight years with the Air Force. He was an airman first class, working as a supply clerk for much of his career. He served across the United States, including Alaska and Salina. He moved to Lucas after his discharge and was a farmer, stockman and dairyman. He worked for King of the Road RV Manufacturing Co. in Russell, and later for EnerSys in Hays, until fall 2001, when he was diagnosed with cancer.

He married Barbara Jean Herbel on Dec. 1, 1963, in Lucas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Miller, Garfield, and Kris Manning, Lawrence; three brothers, Eugene Boutwell Jr., Green Boutwell and Charles R. Boutwell, all of Newton, Miss.; a sister, Sheryl Ann Palmer, Lucas; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
