McPherson edges Haskell

? Eric Johnson’s five-yard scoring run late in the third quarter broke a 13-13 deadlock and lifted McPherson College to a 20-13 football win over Haskell Indian Nations University Saturday night.

Haskell had trailed until midway through the third quarter when Chad Murphy broke an 89-yard kickoff return to forge the tie. HINU’s first score came on a 16-yard run by Carl Huff.

Murphy led the Indians with 89 yards rushing in 18 carries. HINU quarterback Pete Hahn completed 6 of 16 passes for 74 yards and had two intercepted.

Cody Wilson and Chris Muniz had three receptions apiece for the Indians (1-1). McPherson improved to 2-0.
