Eye doctors provide free services to seniors

The EyeCare America Seniors program is offering free eye examinations and treatment to eligible seniors.

The program, a public service foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, provides eye care programs to seniors through volunteer ophthalmologists.

The volunteer doctors accept Medicare or other insurance as full payment, and do not charge patients who do not have insurance.

Lenexa Senior Center plans trip to Carrollton

Lenexa Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a day trip to Carrollton, Mo., for a guided tour of apple orchards, lunch at the Main Street Cafe and a tour of Miller Pecan Farm. The trip also includes time to shop for antiques at the Country Cellar Mall.

Trip-goers will depart at 8:30 a.m. and return around 5 p.m. Oct. 6, from the Lenexa Senior Center, 13425 Walnut St.,

Reservations are required by Friday. The trip’s minimum is 25 people. The cost is $42 per person. For more information or to make a reservation, call (913) 541-0135.

Piano lessons to begin

Lenexa Parks and Recreation is offering piano lessons for adults and seniors from noon to 3:30 p.m. Mondays at the Lenexa Senior Center, 13425 Walnut St. Lessons are available privately or in small groups. Keyboards are provided.
