New magazine provides autumn information

Dublin, N.H. — Yankee magazine has a new keepsake publication out on newsstands, just for this time of year, called Seasons.

The magazine features full-page color photographs of forests of red and gold-leaved trees and scenic waterways throughout New England.

In addition to essays on the region, it includes identification guides for leaves, birds, animal footprints and seasonal produce, as well as listings for vineyards, festivals, foliage vistas, hikes, parks, restaurants and inns. The magazine sells for $6.99.

Golfers have a new trail

Alexandria, Va. — A regional effort to draw tourists has led to the creation of the Northern Virginia Golf Trail.

The trail consists of 22 area courses by designers like Fred Couples, Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Gary Player.

Various promotions are planned through Columbus Day, including discounts and drawings for free rounds.
