• Nicole Berry, a 2003 Free State High School graduate, has been selected to receive a $1,500 President’s Leadership Council scholarship. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, leadership potential and school and community service. Berry is the daughter of Walter and Catharine Berry, Lawrence. She is a freshman at Oklahoma State University.
• Kristen Jordan, Lawrence, is a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Cornhusker Marching Band. The band made its first appearance during Nebraska’s Aug. 31 game against Oklahoma State University.
• Sara Orel, a 1980 Lawrence High School graduate, is an associate professor of art history at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. She will be the curator of the exhibition “Traditional Textiles of Indochina” this fall at Truman State. Orel is the daughter of Harold and Charlyn Orel, Lawrence.
