Philly guard Iverson injured in practice
Philadelphia — Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Allen Iverson strained his left shoulder in practice Thursday.
The guard collided with a teammate during a five-on-five drill and left practice with an ice pack on his shoulder and his left arm bandaged. He was listed as day-to-day, pending the results of an MRI test.
Iverson “has always been an individual who can tolerate a lot of pain,” 76ers coach Randy Ayers said.
Clippers lose Brand for four to six weeks
Los Angeles — Forward Elton Brand sustained a hairline fracture in his right foot during the Los Angeles Clippers’ season-opening loss to Seattle in Japan. He is expected to be out four to six weeks, the team said Thursday.
X-rays taken in Tokyo after the early Thursday morning game showed a hairline fracture of the fourth metatarsal.
Brand missed 18 games last season with a stress fracture in his lower left leg.
