The robber made away with $100 in cash and the student’s car keys, according to a report. Police have no suspects.

Power outage strikes in North Lawrence

A main power line in North Lawrence went down Monday evening, leaving 1,080 Westar Energy customers without electricity for about 40 minutes, an official said.

Power was restored to the customers by switching them to other lines, spokeswoman Karla Olsen said.

Westar crews did not know what caused the main line to go down at 5:01 p.m. or specifically where it happened, Olsen said.

Through traffic will be closed due to the repairs.

Next week, contractors will start rebuilding the crosswalk at 11th and Massachusetts streets. That project is expected to be complete by Nov. 7.
