Hurricanes, South shine in Toy Bowl

Two Hurricanes struck the Youth Sports Inc. fields Sunday.

In the B-team championship of the annual youth football Toy Bowl, the Hurricanes beat the Cougars, 14-12.

Then in the A-team finals, the Hurricanes beat the Baldwin Bulldogs, 34-12.

Finally, South beat Southwest, 20-10, in the seventh-grade championship game.

The annual event is sponsored by Lawrence Youth Football Inc.

“It was well attended, and everything went fine,” LYFI president Brett Toekles said. “Just everything about it was good.”
