Marie N. Simons
Memorial services for Marie N. Simons, 97, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Private inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Simons died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1906, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Nelson.
Mrs. Simons was a 1928 graduate of Kansas University. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority, Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence Music Club and Chapter AZ of the PEO Sisterhood in Lawrence.
Until recent years, Mrs. Simons was secretary-treasurer of The World Company, the parent company of the Lawrence Journal-World and Sunflower Broadband.
She married Dolph C. Simons Sr. on Feb. 16, 1929, in Auburn, Neb., He died Feb. 14, 1989.
A great-granddaughter also died earlier.
Survivors include two sons, Dolph Jr., Lawrence, and John, Brainerd, Minn., nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
