Kansas artist craftsmen to gather for conference

The fall conference of the Kansas Artist Craftsmen Assn. will begin with an opening reception from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today for two gallery exhibits at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H.

The juried member’s show and a juried student show, co-sponsored by the arts center, will run through Nov 28.

Juror of the member’s show was Jeannine Falino, Carolyn and Peter Lynch Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Jurors for the student show were John Kudlacek, studio artist and professor emeritus at Emporia State University, and Larry Peters, retired director of the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.

Saturday’s conference/workshops will feature presentations and demonstrations by Lawrence jewelry artist Jim Connelly and Lawrence mosaic artist Shanna Wagner, as well as Kansas City ceramist Lynn Smiser-Bowers.
