Journal-World sports editor Chuck Woodling bounced back with a 5-1 record in this week’s Wanna Whack Woodling contest after going 3-3 last week.

It didn’t matter much as 220 participants tied or whacked Woodling, who missed a perfect week because of a self-proclaimed idiotic pick of Iowa State over Texas. The home team doesn’t win every time, Chuck.

Will Banning of Overland Park won the contest, choosing the Jayhawks as 34-21 victors over Baylor. That was one of the lowest projected scores for KU, as most entries had the Jayhawks scoring in the 40s or 50s.

Banning was one of 82 participants with perfect records, and 138 people tied Woodling’s 5-1 mark.
