Allen A. ‘Twist’ Toshavik-Scott

Services for Allen A. “Twist” Toshavik-Scott, 21, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Toshavik-Scott died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., from complications from a gunshot wound he suffered three and a half years ago.

He was born March 4, 1982, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Eric Scott and Claudia Toshavik. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 2000 and had played Little League baseball and football.

Mr. Toshavik-Scott was a member of the Caddo Nation and attended Haskell Baptist Mission on the Haskell Indian Nations University campus. He had been disabled since being injured.

Survivors include a son, Mylynn Evan, Kansas City, Kan.; his mother and stepfather, Eugene Sims, Lawrence; his father and stepmother, Amy Hanks, Newton, Texas; a brother, Justin A. Free, Lawrence; a sister, Miranda N. Free, Lawrence; three half-brothers, Eric Scott Jr. and Chauncey Scott, both of Jasper, Texas, and Edrick Scott, Newton, Texas; two half-sisters, Nadia T. Sims, Lawrence, and Marquita Steele, Newton, Texas; a stepsister, Ashley Burns, Ottawa; maternal grandfather, Allen C. Toshavik, Lawrence; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Beverly A. Toshavik and Daniel Ramirez, Lawrence; paternal grandmother, Margie Samuel, Lawrence; paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Edward and Ella Scott, Jasper; maternal great-grandfather, Willie McGuire, Newton, Texas; a stepgrandmother, Ruby Redick, Topeka; and a stepgrandfather, Eugene Carter, Topeka.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Allen A. Toshavik-Scott Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
