  • Army Pvt. Alan R. Sands has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Sands studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Sands, a 2003 graduate of Wellsville High School, is the son of Patrick Sands and Loria Sands-Horne, both of Wellsville.

¢ Army Reserve Pvt. Jarad B. Robertson has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

During the eight weeks of training, Robertson studied the Army mission and received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, tactics, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions, and special training in human relations.

Robertson, a 2002 graduate of Baldwin High School, is the son of Billy and Lisa Robertson, Baldwin.
