Wudarczyk Champ: Tyler Wudarczyk, a Free State High senior, won the high school fall drags last Sunday at Heartland Park Topeka. Wudarczyk also won the spring drags and will race in St. Louis later this month.

  • Heitzman Sets Record: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the age-graded masters division of the Zoo Run Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Heitzman’s actual time of 44:47 was an Oklahoma age-group record for 72-year-olds.

  • Henry Goes 100: Gary Henry of Lawrence finished 20th in the Heartland 100, a race of 100 miles last weekend in the Flint Hills near Cassoday. Henry was clocked in just under 26 hours over the grueling distance. Ed Payne of Lawrence was among the 46 entrants, but failed to finish.

  • DuPree Hole-in-One: Mike DuPree of Lawrence used a pitching wedge to ace the par-three, 125-yard No. 12 hole Monday at Alvamar Public. Witnesses were Tom Raney, Jeff Brooks, Dick Barton and Mike Reeves.

  • Run for Success Winners: Shadrack Kimeli and Korene Hinds, both of Manhattan, were the male and female overall winners of the Four-Mile Run for Success last Saturday at Clinton Park. The Masters winners, based on age-graded times, were Dick Wilson of Lawrence and Norma Weiser of Topeka.

  • MAYB Tourney: A Mid-America Youth Basketball tournament for third-to-eighth grade boys and girls will be conducted Dec. 6-7 in Lawrence. For information, call 842-8666.

  • Reaney Makes Splash: Emma Reaney of the Lawrence Aquahawks won nine gold medals in the Fall Halloween Swim Classic last weekend in Springfield, Mo. Teammate Chloe Portela won two events. The Aquahawks’ Ben Sloan captured six silver medals while Portela had three seconds and Stacey Rudman and Adam Winter each added a pair. Other silvers went to Heather Clark, Molly Albrecht and Erin Eifler.
  • Demo JGC Winner: Brad Demo shot a one-under-par 71 and won last Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar by five strokes over Ron Huckfeldt. Mike Naegele and Larry Whiteley tied for third, each with an 80. In net scoring, Scott Reichert was low with a 67, followed by Pete Whitenight 69 and Mike Hertling 70. In the club’s match play tournament, Scott Reichert topped Huckfeldt, 5 and 4, for the championship. In the consolation championship, Van Reichert edged Bob Cohen, one up.
