City
Cole Douglas
Free State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
Class: Senior
Position: Fullback/Linebacker
The game: Douglas was the one guy Olathe North’s smothering defense couldn’t stop Friday. The fullback ran the ball 12 times for 138 yards and a touchdown in Free State’s 28-14 loss to O-North. Also an inside linebacker, Douglas did his part in stopping Eagles running back Justin Gore, making several key tackles.
Comment: “He played a great game, offensively and defensively,” FSHS coach Bob Lisher said. “He was making a lot of big tackles defensively, and offensively he ran the ball hard.”
Honorable mention: Jamie Huston, Lawrence, senior; Jeremy Bustamante, Free State, senior.
Area
Leif Goleman
De Soto
Height: 6-0. Weight: 165.

The game: Goleman is a big reason for De Soto’s impressive 5-1 start. In the Wildcats’ 24-7 victory over Santa Fe Trail Friday, Goleman had 132 yards rushing, including a 65-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that paced the De Soto offense that led to the victory.
