KU women’s golfers in fifth place so far

Manhattan — Kansas University’s women’s golf team was in fifth place after the first round of the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational Monday at Colbert Hills Golf Course. KU shot a first-day 305.

Host school Kansas State is in first with 614. Southern Methodist shot a 618 for second place.

Kings slice Johnson

Sacramento, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings Monday released Ashante Johnson, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Kansas University. Johnson, last played at Kansas in 2000.
