The 25th annual family reunion of the descendants of Ezekiel and Mary Jane Wendell Colman will be at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Topping Farm, 1543 E. 900 Road, west of Lawrence. Family members should make reservations for lunch with Leonora Barker. They are asked bring a side dish and lawn chairs. Fried chicken and table service will be furnished for $6 per person.

• Washburn University students Ashlea Abel and Megan Smethers, both of Baldwin, and Lori Brittin, of Lawrence, pledged sororities during this fall’s sorority recruitment drive at Washburn University. Abel pledged Alpha Phi. Smethers pledged Zeta Tau Alpha and Brittin pledged Kappa Alpha Theta.

• Becky Wenger and Kristina Young, both of Lawrence, are Homecoming queen candidates at Pittsburg State University. Homecoming week is Monday through Oct. 18. The king and queen presentations will be Tuesday.
