Laurel and Claris Hunsinger

Laurel and Claris Hunsinger, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner party.

Laurel Hunsinger and Claris Buchanan were married Oct. 17, 1953, in Little River, while Laurel was home for a month’s leave with the Air Force after returning from the Korean War.

Laurel attended Kansas State University and retired from Texaco after 33 years. Claris is a homemaker and retired tax preparer.

The couple moved to Lawrence from Miami to be close to family in 1993. They are members of First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence.

Their children are Larry and Cyndi Kempke, Lewisville, Texas; Terry and Robin Hunsinger, Olathe; Lorri and Joe Hoelscher, Baldwin; and Keith Hunsinger and Shane Hunsinger, both of Lawrence. They have nine grandchildren.
