Rothberger services

Services for Lemuel L. Rothberger, 91, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Rothberger died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

He was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Eudora, the son of Joseph and Lola (Smith) Rothberger.

Mr. Rothberger worked at Lawrence Paper Co. for about 10 years before joining the Lawrence Department of Public Works, from which he retired in 1979. He was a courtesy member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Retired Eagles Activity Club, and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 309.

He married Mary Maude Curtis on March 31, 1931, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Shirley Hodges, Lawrence; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
