The week: Wilson continues to make her case to be mentioned among the state’s top golfers. Monday, she fired an 18-hole score of 81 at the Sunflower League tournament at Meadowbrook Country Club, finishing just two shots back of league champion Jaci Hiatt of Olathe East. Nobody else in the Sunflower League was within six strokes of Hiatt and Wilson.

Comment: “She’s among the top of the state, in my opinion,” LHS coach Mike Lewis said. “We can pretty much expect her to lead us in the scoring category.”

The week: Brown and the Bulldogs simply are sizzling, having won 24 matches in a row and standing at 26-1 overall. The Bulldogs went 6-0 in the Wellsville Invitational Saturday, then swept the Gardner triangular Tuesday. Brown, who’s committed to Kansas University, was the main force in all the victories, registering 40 kills at Wellsville and 26 more at Gardner.

Comment: “She’s really taken on a leadership role on our team this year,” Baldwin coach Jill Brown said. “When she gets the ball, she usually puts it away.”
