University Bridge Club announces the winners of its Sept. 27 game. Lois Liebert, Marian Lang and John and Jane Golden were hosts.

The blue winners were Phil Hawley, first; Paul Jordan, second; Harold Riehm, third; Henry Wigington, fourth; and Don Whitaker, fifth.

The pink winners were Dottie Miller, first; Jean Dunn, second; Lois Liebert, third; Iva Koleber, fourth; and Mildred Hoffman, fifth.

  • The Lawrence 299er Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 24. Nine pairs competed in a stratified game that used a Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Harry Talley and Don Daugherty finished first in A and B. Don Brennaman and Ann Thompson finished second in A. Albert Ballard and Emily Foster were third in A, second in B and first in C.

  • The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 26 for its weekly game. Six and a half tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing North-South, Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks claimed first place in A, B and C. Harry Shaffer and Kent McCullough placed second in A. Phyllis Brownlee and Jean Otney placed third in A.

Playing East-West, Lester Dalton and Patt Radford finished first in A. Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman came in second. Harry Talley and Don Daugherty placed first in B and C.

  • The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday for its weekly game. Eight tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the game.

Sitting North-South, Pat Burgstahler and Martie Hartman claimed first place in A, B and C. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed second in B and C. Terry Tolar and Vince Russo took third in A.

Playing East-West, Bruce McKeithan and Freda Gilmore finished in first place in A. Patt Radford and John Hickey were second. Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro placed third. Olivier Urruty and Don Brennaman finished first in B and C. Cathy Blumenfeld and Mike Blumenfeld were second in B.

  • The Knights of Columbus Council 1372 donated more than $400 to the Catholic Youth Organization. The money was raised at a breakfast fund-raiser Sept. 14 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. CYO volleyball coaches Terri Broadwell, Sarah Hoskinson and Laurie Ostronic, along with volleyball players and parents, helped at the breakfast. The money was used to purchase new volleyballs.
