  • Annamarie and Christopher Dewhurst, Austin, Texas, announce the birth of a daughter, Naomi Caroline Dewhurst, on Sept. 8, 2003, at the Austin Area Birthing Center.

  • Lora and Craig Stoppel, Lawrence, announce the birth of a daughter, Paige Olivia Stoppel, on Nov. 18, 2003, in Lawrence. She has two brothers, Nolan, 7, and Grant, 6.

Maternal grandmother is Carol Hoffman, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are Marilyn Stoppel and Norman Stoppel, Lawrence. Maternal great-grandfather is James Hoffman, Lawrence.

  • Karen Roberts, Lawrence, has been selected to write a monthly column for the American Journal of Nursing. Her first column appeared in the November issue. Roberts, a registered nurse, received a master’s degree in 1999 from the Graceland School of Nursing Outreach program in Independence, Mo. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washburn University.
  • William Hambleton, Lawrence, was inducted into the Franklin and Marshall College Nevonian Society on Oct. 24. The society honors alumni of 50 years and more. Hambleton is a 1943 graduate of the Lancaster, Pa., college.

  • Bethany Taylor, a Kansas University junior from Prairie Village, has been selected to participate in the 2003 Miss Kansas USA Pageant. The pageant will be Sunday in Wichita.

She will compete as Miss Prairie Village in swimsuit, evening gown and personal interview categories. She is the daughter of Syd and Wendy Taylor. She is studying elementary education at KU.

  • Charlene Reynolds and Brad Williamson are members of the Wichita State University band. Reynolds, a Lawrence High School graduate, is studying music education. Williamson, a Free State High School graduate, is studying music performance. He is the son of Bruce Williamson, Topeka, and Robin Williamson, Lawrence.
