Charles F. Jones

? Services for Charles F. Jones, 77, Gardner, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Gardner. Private inurnment will be at Gardner Cemetery.

Mr. Jones died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at his home.

He was born May 30, 1926, in Picher, Okla., the son of Charles A. and Abby F. (Hale) Jones.

Mr. Jones graduated from Emporia High School in 1944, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and later attended Kansas University and Washburn University.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He taught in Reading, Lyndon and at Highland Park High School in Topeka before moving in 1976 to Gardner. He was a business teacher at Baldwin High School from 1976 until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Jones was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gardner, PT Mariners Group and Gardner Grange. He had been a Gardner Township trustee and clerk since 1989. He served on the McCamish Township Zoning Board and was member and past president of Gardner Cemetery Board.

He married Ina Joan Sawyer on June 18, 1950, in Gardner. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Mark Alan Jones, Lawrence; a daughter, Terry Ellen Jones, Greenville, N.C.; two sisters, Vivian Meyer, Sarasota, Fla., and Nell Raney, Grove, Okla.; and two granddaughters.

The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
