Milwaukee bucks losing streak

? Vince Carter refused to blame trade rumors for Toronto’s latest embarrassing loss.

Toni Kukoc scored 15 points, and the Milwaukee Bucks ended a three-game losing streak Sunday with an 82-62 rout over the Raptors.

Tim Thomas and Michael Redd each had 14 points, and Joe Smith added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks.

Carter had 15 points for the Raptors, who scored fewer than 70 points for the fourth time this season. Toronto scored less than 70 just four times in their history before this season.

“We did not come ready to play, even guys not involved in trade rumors — myself included,” Carter said. “That has nothing to do with it. We could come out and win by 20 and everyone would say, ‘Oh, they aren’t even worried about it.”‘

The Raptors have been involved in trade talks with the Bulls involving Toronto players Antonio Davis, Morris Peterson, Jerome Williams and Alvin Williams.

Toronto GM Glen Grunwald said Sunday he’s been more active making calls about trades, but doesn’t appear to be close to making a deal with Chicago.

“It’s unfortunate that things get ahead of themselves like they have here,” Grunwald said.

Kukoc had five points as Milwaukee went on a 11-0 run in the second quarter to take a 31-21 lead. The Raptors didn’t get closer than eight the rest of the way.

Thomas’ three-pointer just before the end of the third quarter gave Milwaukee a 66-48 lead. Kukoc followed with two layups early in the fourth, and Smith and Damon Jones made jumpers, giving Milwaukee a 74-52 lead with 7:16 remaining.

Milwaukee's Marcus Haislip drives to the basket against Toronto's Milt Palacio. The Bucks won, 82-62, Sunday at Toronto.

The Raptors shot 34 percent, compared to 43 for the Bucks. Milwaukee outrebounded Toronto 45-39.

Toronto committed 18 turnovers.

“There are times when they become one-dimensional with just Vince,” Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. “Michael Redd, Tim Thomas and Desmond Mason did a great job on him.”

Hornets 81, Pistons 80

Auburn Hills, Mich. — Baron Davis’ dunk with one second to play gave New Orleans a victory over Detroit.

Chauncey Billups, a 92 percent foul shooter, went to the line with seven seconds left and a chance to put the Pistons ahead by three. But Billups missed both shots, and Davis then took a pass from P.J. Brown, went past Ben Wallace and dunked over Bob Sura to win the game.

Jamaal Magloire led New Orleans with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Davis had 18 points.

Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 13 each, while Mehmet Okur had 10 points and tied a career high with 18 rebounds.

Hamilton left the arena at halftime for precautionary X-rays after straining his neck late in the second quarter.

Kings 110, Bulls 99

Sacramento, Calif. — Peja Stojakovic had 21 points, and Anthony Peeler scored 15 of his season-high 18 in the decisive second quarter of Sacramento’s fifth straight victory.

Bobby Jackson had 16 points and six rebounds for the Kings, who easily survived two prolonged defensive lapses in their ninth consecutive win over Chicago and their 14th straight home victory.

The Bulls made 11 straight shots in the final minutes of a 38-point first quarter, but Peeler made four three-pointers in the second as Sacramento pulled away. Six players scored in double figures for the Kings, who took a 32-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Bulls’ starters rallied against Sacramento’s reserves, but Chicago still fell well short in its fifth straight loss.

Jamal Crawford scored 16 for the Bulls.

Warriors 78,

Trail Blazers 72

Oakland, Calif. — Erick Dampier had 11 points and 17 rebounds for his seventh straight double-double as Golden State snapped a five-game losing streak to Portland.

Jason Richardson led the Warriors with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Mike Dunleavy added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Golden State drew two offensive fouls against Portland in the final minutes of a game in which neither team led by more than six points.

Zach Randolph had 17 for the Blazers, who are winless in five road games and were sloppy down the stretch.

Sonics 88, Wizards 85

Seattle — Vladimir Radmanovic scored 25 points, Ronald Murray topped 20 points for the ninth time, and Seattle defeated Washington despite getting just one point from its reserves.

Radmanovic scored eight of Seattle’s final 11 points, including a three-pointer. He shot 10-of-19 from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Rashard Lewis added 24 and Murray had 21.

The Wizards have lost six of their last eight games, while the Sonics snapped a three-game losing streak.

Injured Seattle forward Nick Collison, a Kansas University product, traveled to New York to have his surgically repaired left shoulder checked and to set a date for surgery on his right shoulder.

Lakers 121, Grizzlies 89

Los Angeles — Kobe Bryant scored 28 points for Los Angeles, and Karl Malone had 20 points and 10 rebounds before sitting out the fourth quarter.

The Lakers shot 59.2 percent despite playing without Shaquille O’Neal, who sat out his first game this season because of a strained right calf muscle.

The win was the sixth in seven games for the Lakers (11-3) since they committed a season-high 23 turnovers in a 105-95 loss at Memphis earlier this month. The Grizzlies had a season-high 24 in this game, their most one-sided loss of the season.
