Credit group to offer tips for buying a home

Housing and Credit Counseling Inc. has set its “Homebuyer 101 Workshop” for 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.

Attendees can learn about the latest loan products, down payment and closing assistance and how to determine what they can buy.

Guest speakers, including Paulean Carter from Capitol Federal Savings Bank and Chris Francois from US Bank, will explain what creditors look for in a credit report. Attendees also will receive a certificate required to qualify for some grants and loans to assist with down payment and closing costs.
