Ellen M. Mohney

OZAWKIE ? Services for Ellen M. Mohney, 81, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ozawkie United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow, with private family inurnment at Ozawkie Cemetery.

Mrs. Mohney died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at a hospice in Topeka.

She was born June 23, 1922, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Charles and Sadie J. (Brown) Metzger.

She was the postmaster in Ozawkie from 1961 to 1975, then served as a rural mail carrier until her retirement in 1986.

Mrs. Mohney was a member of the Ozawkie United Methodist Church, and was a 62-year member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 657 in Ozawkie. She also was a member of the Mount Pleasant Grange No. 1445 and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

She married Donald E. Mohney on May 1, 1947, in Lyndon. He died June 19, 1997.

A granddaughter also died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Charles Mohney, Meriden; a daughter, Donna K. Crawford, Topeka; and five grandsons.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Barnett’s Meriden Funeral Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
