Cavs’ James jolts 76ers

Rookie scores 22 points to go with center's 28

? Zydrunas Ilgauskas didn’t care who was or wasn’t wearing a 76ers’ jersey.

Four years between victories over Philadelphia was long enough.

Ilgauskas scored 28 points and had a key putback, assist and block in overtime as the Cavaliers snapped a 16-game losing streak against the Sixers with a 91-88 win Saturday night.

The 7-foot-3 Ilgauskas added eight rebounds and a career-high seven assists for the Cavs, who hadn’t beaten the undermanned Sixers since April 2, 1999, at Philadelphia.

“Every win is a good win for us,” Ilgauskas said. “We only won 17 games last year, so they’re all big. That’s a tough team to beat.”

Rookie LeBron James had 22 points, eight assists, five rebounds and a huge block with 11 seconds left in overtime for the Cavaliers, who won it with defense down the stretch.

With Cleveland clinging to 90-88 lead, James was caught by a pick in the lane, but raced across the floor and swatted away rookie Kyle Korver’s jumper from the baseline.

“They used (Allen) Iverson as a decoy,” James said. “When Korver got it, I knew he was going to shoot, and I just had one of my high school moments.”

Korver then missed a three-pointer with 5.5 seconds left, and Kevin Ollie made one of two free throws for Cleveland. Philadelphia guard Eric Snow’s desperation heave at the horn was way off.

Cleveland rookie LeBron James dunks off a first-quarter breakaway. He scored 22 in the Cavs' 91-88 victory Saturday over Philadelphia in Cleveland.

The Sixers played without their starting frontcourt for the second straight game. Derrick Coleman, Glenn Robinson and Kenny Thomas sat out with injuries.

Iverson, the NBA’s leading scorer, matched a season-low with 19 points on 8-of-29 shooting. After leading the Sixers to a win over the defending champion San Antonio Spurs Friday, Iverson, who was hounded by Ricky Davis, just didn’t have it.

“If I have an off-night, I have an off-night,” Iverson said. “But I don’t do my teammates any favors if I quit trying. You have to keep fighting and hopefully something will happen at the end. That’s the way it nearly went.”

Pacers 95, Knicks 94

New York — Jermaine O’Neal put back a miss with three seconds left, and Reggie Miller looked like his old self at Madison Square Garden, scoring a season-high 31 points.

O’Neal made up for an otherwise poor game by grabbing Anthony Johnson’s missed three-pointer and hitting a short jumper over Dikembe Mutombo for the win.

Miller, who didn’t have a 30-point game last season, scored 18 points in the first half and made three three-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Pacers rebounded from a dreadful third quarter to hand the Knicks their fourth straight loss.

Miller’s last three-pointer gave Indiana a 93-92 lead with 49.2 seconds left.

Bucks 100, Jazz 95

Milwaukee — Michael Redd scored 25 points to lead the Bucks. Redd scored 19 points in the second half, and Milwaukee used a 13-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter to pull away. The Bucks also received 17 points from Tim Thomas.

Grizzlies 108,

Mavericks 101, OT

Memphis, Tenn. — Mike Miller had 22 points, including six in overtime, and Jason Williams added 20 points and nine assists. Antoine Walker’s 29-footer at the end of regulation sent the game into overtime tied at 95. Walker’s off-balance shot hit the backboard, clanged off the rim and dropped through as the horn sounded.

Sonics 98, Bulls 90

Chicago — Rashard Lewis scored 27 points and Ronald “Flip” Murray added 26. Jalen Rose led Chicago with 19 points. Seattle made 13 of 27 shots from three-point range, including five by Murray. Chicago’s Lonny Baxter was ejected with 9:08 left in the second quarter after he was assessed a flagrant foul for hitting Seattle’s Antonio Daniels in the face on a fast-break drive.

Hornets 101, Blazers 79

New Orleans — Baron Davis sparked a decisive run and finished with 23 points and eight assists. Darrell Armstrong came off the bench to add 20, including four three-pointers, and had three of his team’s 10 steals as the Hornets snapped Portland’s three-game winning streak.

Nets 100, Hawks 85

Atlanta — Kenyon Martin scored 11 of his 23 points in the third quarter. Winning his matchup with Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who was held to 12 points on 3-of-12 shooting, Martin was a force inside with 14 rebounds. Jason Kidd added 21 points, and Richard Jefferson had 14 for New Jersey.

Spurs 95, Wizards 71

Washington — Malik Rose scored 23 points, Tim Duncan had 17, and the San Antonio Spurs overcame a lethargic start. Gilbert Arenas scored 14 points on 4-for-19 shooting to lead the Wizards, who have lost four straight.

Pistons 100, Suns 91

Phoenix — Richard Hamilton scored 27 points and Chauncey Billups had 12 of his 24 in the fourth quarter. Billups broke an 84-84 tie with a three-pointer with 2:16 left in the game and made another 29 seconds later.

Clippers 95, Magic 92

Los Angeles — Quentin Richardson’s 31 points and nine rebounds and Corey Maggette’s 17 points helped the Clippers send Orlando to its ninth straight loss. Marko Jaric had 15 points off the bench for the Clippers.
