Arthur J. Olson

Services for Arthur J. Olson, 74, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial with military services will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Olson died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 2, 1929, in Panama, Iowa, the son of Arthur A. and Magdalena Windeshausen Olson.

Mr. Olson was in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952, during the Korean War. He worked as a machine operator for Meseraull Printing and Kansas Color Press. He was a post commander and lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 852.

He married Lillian Ellis on May 7, 1955, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Sharon Stevens and Peggy Hooper, both of Lawrence, and Donna Handel, Seoul, South Korea; three brothers, Ole, Kenneth and Richard, all of Harlan, Iowa; five sisters, Gladys Miller, Lecompton, and Teresa Porter, Marilyn Johnson, Ramona Yates and Karen Scheffer, all of Harlan; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A great-grandchild died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
