Arthur Donald White Sr.

? Services for Arthur Donald White Sr., 85, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bowser Johnson Funeral Chapel, Topeka.

Mr. White was found dead Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at his home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1918, in Lawrence, the son of Arthur Bernard and Rebecca May (Walker) White. He graduated from Kansas Technical Institute and lived in Topeka for 61 years.

Mr. White was a tire inspector at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant before he retired. He was a volunteer firefighter, Master Boy Scout leader of Troop 142 and bus driver for Laidlaw Bus Co. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in World War II as a tech sergeant first class in the U.S. Army.

He married Gwendolyn Jones on Sept. 21, 1941. She died Jan. 8, 1988. A daughter, Jacqueline Renee White, died in July 1962.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur D., Olathe, and James Berdell, Lawrence; two brothers, Dennis B., Lawrence, and Lawrence Nelson, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Gaylene C. White and Irene C. Southard, both of Lawrence; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, where family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
