Todd-Rich

Judy Mitchell Todd, Lawrence, and James Boyd Rich, McAlester, Okla., were married Oct. 24, 2003, at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Topeka with the Revs. Mitch and Jan Todd officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John Mitchell, Athens, Ala., and the late Jewell Edwards Mitchell. The groom is the son of Querida Bullock, Oklahoma City.

Matron of honor was Susan Mitchell Bryan. Best man was Jerry Rich. Bridesmaid was Heather Rich. Groomsman was R. Matthew Todd.

Usher was John R. Mitchell Jr. Vocalist was Rebecca Mitchell Cartier. Organist was Ward Rowe. Photographer was Sally Mitchell. The Rev. Loretta Ross gave a special reading.

A reception followed the ceremony at the church.

The bride is a graduate of Fairborn High School and Muskingum College, both in Ohio. She graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. She has been pastor of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church for eight years.

The groom is a graduate of Putnam City High School, Oklahoma City, and the University of Maryland. He is director of marketing at Fenton Motors Group in McAlester, Okla. He plans to open an advertising firm in Lawrence.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Sphar-Villa

Leslie Jane Sphar and Marco Villa, both of Lawrence, were married Sept. 21, 2003, at Ensley Botanical Garden at Lake Shawnee in Topeka with James Calderon officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Richard Sphar, Frankin, Tenn., and Lynette Sphar, Collinsville, Ill. The groom is the son of Alessandro and Annamaria Villa, Valsolda, Italy.

Matron of honor was Michele Bozsa. Best man was Alessandro Villa. Bridesmaids were Heather Sphar Pollman and Silvia Villa. Groomsmen were Emiliano Ciani and Rafael Gonzalez.

A reception was given at The Garden House at Lake Shawnee.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Collinsville High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering in 1999 from the University of Missouri-Rolla. She is pursuing a master’s degree in engineering management at Kansas University. She is employed as a natural gas distribution engineer at Kansas Gas Service in Topeka.

The groom received a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering in 1999 from Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy. He received a master’s degree in aerospace engineering in 2002 from KU. He is pursuing a doctorate in aerospace engineering at KU, where he is a graduate research assistant.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Burgess-Farnsworth

Jean Elaine Burgess and Eric Arthur Farnsworth, both of Lawrence, were married June 28, 2003, on a family farm in rural Jefferson County with Boog Highberger officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Arthur and Janney Burgess, Lawrence. The groom is the son of the late David Farnsworth and Janet Welpley Farnsworth.

The attendant was Emma Burgess-Olson.

A reception followed the ceremony on the farm.

The bride is a graduate of Oswego High School. She attended Kansas University. She received a Bachelor of Science in horticulture at Kansas State University and a master’s degree in horticulture from Oregon State University. She is employed at KU.

The groom is a graduate of Miraleste High School, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. He attended Los Angeles Harbor College and Santa Monica College. He is employed at Reuter Organ Co.

The couple reside in Lawrence.
