FCE and 4-H news

The Vinland Family Community Education Unit will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mariann Bradley. Virginia Eldred will be co-hostess. Lola Ford will give the lesson, “Company’s Coming.” Members will answer roll call by naming a meal they cook for unexpected company.

The Clinton Eagles 4-H Club met Nov. 1 for the club achievement celebration and hayrack ride. The meeting was called to order by Donald Baldwin, president. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite Thanksgiving food.

Kahlyn Heine gave a treasurer’s report. Lanaea Heine gave the leader’s report. She asked members to send their e-mail addresses to Kimberly Davis, county 4-H agent. The club’s float received a $150 second-place prize in the Maple Leaf parade.

Club officers were encouraged to attend county officer training at 7 p.m. Thursday in Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Denise Snodgrass, arts and crafts leader, announced that members enrolled in the arts project will meet Nov. 30.

A club shirt committee was formed. Members discussed the retirement of Sharon Heidemann, of the Douglas County Extension Office.

The following club members were recognized for receiving pins: Delaney Dieker, Lindsay Fangman, MacKenzie Rhoades, Brandon Schmidt, membership; Simon Fangman, Chris Gaston, Cory Gaston, Katie Gaston, Morgan Manger, Nicki Snodgrass, bronze; Kirstyn Heine, emerald; Kahlyn Heine, silver guard; Haven Bouton, leadership; and Michelle Colgan, gold guard.

The club received a purple seal.

The next meeting will be Dec. 8. The club will go caroling.
