Phillips services

Services for Thomas Morton Phillips Sr., 74, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Cathedral in Topeka. Inurnment will follow at Grace Episcopal Cathedral Columbarium.

Mr. Phillips died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Wichita, the son of LeRoy Montrose and Flora Morton Phillips. He graduated from Melvern High School in 1946 and from Wichita State University in 1951 with a bachelor of liberal arts degree.

Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Army after World War II, from June 1946 to October 1947 in occupied Japan. He then was an appraiser for the state of Kansas until he retired in 1994. He lived in Topeka for more than 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Morton Jr. and Timothy Martin, Lawrence; two daughters, Lori Jo Phillips, Lawrence, and Susan Irene Phillips, Chicago; a sister, Margaret Ellen Dyck, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

A reception is planned after the inurnment.

The family suggests memorials to palliative care at LMH, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
