Misty conditions to end by afternoon

Misty rain was dampening Lawrence streets for most of Monday morning — but the wet stuff was expected to clear out by the afternoon.

The Lawrence Municipal Airport reported 0.01 of an inch of rain at 11 a.m., said Matt Jacobs, 6News meteorologist. Jacobs said the rain would taper off by early afternoon.

“But we’re still going to have clouds. We’ll stay cloudy through tonight,” Jacobs said. Monday’s high temperature will top out at 54.

Tuesday’s morning low will be 47, with partly to mostly cloudy skies through the day Tuesday and a high reaching 63.

“There will be a front moving through, which will bring showers to the south,” Jacobs said. But Lawrence will remain dry, he said.

However, rain is in the forecast for later in the week, with a 20 percent chance expected late Thursday night, he said.
