Poet’s Showcase

Little Pagodas
By Silvia Kofler

I didn’t know where to place
your oilcan collection.
Forced to compromise
arranged them on top
of the refrigerator,
forming a hidden vista
of honed forest.
Yet,
friends found them:

“Ouch,
as a child I stepped on one.”

“Interesting
eclectic display.”

“They aren’t yours,
are they?”

“They remind me of my homeland,”
said Michael from Malaysia.
“Little pagodas.”

Now, I enjoy this hidden vista
With breakfast coffee.
