Air Force Airman 1st Class Brian Winterringer has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

During the six weeks of training, Winterringer studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches; and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Patricia Gable, Tonganoxie, and Dan Winterringer, Kansas City, Kan.

Kansas Army National Guard Pfc. David Burggraf recently was named distinguished honor graduate from the Signal Support Systems Specialist course at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga.

The 17-week course teaches skills required for working with battlefield signal support systems and terminal devices. The training includes instruction in installing, operating and maintaining designated radio and data distribution systems; performing maintenance on signal equipment and associated electronic devices; providing technical assistance to users of signal equipment; and operating and performing preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles.

While at Fort Gordon, Burggraf also received the Army Physical Fitness Excellence Award.

Burggraf is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is the son of John and Vickie Burggraf, Lawrence, and the grandson of Elnora Burggraf, Lawrence.
