Lanny and Mary Tate, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at Free State Brewing Co. in Lawrence.

Lanny Tate and Mary Flory were married Oct. 4, 1953, at Lone Star Church of the Brethren.
Lanny retired from Kansas Public Service. Mary is a homemaker.
Their children are Steven and Susan Tate, Susan Turner and Dawn Tate, all of Lawrence. They have five grandchildren.
Their children and grandchildren treated the couple to a stay at The Castle Inn Riverside in Wichita.
Lewis
Betty and Joseph Lewis Sr., Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at the Union Pacific Depot in Lawrence.

Joseph and Betty Lewis
Joseph L. Lewis and Betty J. Gilbreth were married Oct. 29, 1953, in Eudora. They lived in Nevada, Mo., and then moved to Lawrence in 1962.
Joseph served with the 811th Army Engineer Battalion, attached to the 5th Air Force in Korea. He worked for Garney Construction and retired after 32 years.
Betty graduated from Eudora High School in 1953 and has been a homemaker.
Their children are Joseph Lewis Jr., Lisa O’Neill and Brian Lewis, all of Lawrence. They have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
