6News video: Screen Scene

The “Matrix” trilogy concludes with “Revolutions,” and from the looks of this confusing, joyless exercise in post-MTV filmmaking, it’s time to put the plummeting franchise out of its misery. This time Keanu Reeves and his sunglasses-wearing gang must thwart the wicked machines from invading their underground city. The result is a $110 million blockbuster with barely a dime’s worth of entertainment value. On the other end of the spectrum is “Elf.” The maniacally funny Will Ferrell stars as a boy raised at the North Pole by elves, only to discover in his 30s that he is actually a human. He eventually returns to meet his biological father, played by James Caan, who is in desperate need of being taught the meaning of Christmas. A fine cast and the imposing Ferrell’s commitment to do anything for a laugh sets the table for a real holiday treat.
