Halloween reports include Stull visitors

A rifle assault, a handful of cemetery thrill-seekers and a suspicious man with candy were among the unusual reports made to police during the Halloween weekend:

  • Police arrested a 20-year-old Wichita man on suspicion of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct about 12:45 a.m. Saturday after he allegedly pointed a bolt-action rifle at a porch full of partygoers in the 1600 block of Louisiana Street.

Witnesses told police the man had been in a car driving by the party and exchanged words and profanities with some people at the party. Alcohol was thought to be a factor.

Deputies also shooed away from the site several carloads of people Friday night, she said.

  • A group of children in the 1100 block of Andover Street reported a suspicious man driving a silver sports car drove up about 8:20 p.m., asked them if they wanted candy, then threw pieces of candy to them. A group of children elsewhere on Andover Street reported the same occurrence.
