Former KVSA director denies allegation

Frank Trovato, former executive director of the Kaw Valley Soccer Assn., disagrees with an allegation in a story in Monday’s Journal-World.

In a story about Ken McDaniel, Trovato’s successor, the Journal-World stated that sources said Trovato had been dismissed because he had overemphasized the premier division of the multi-layered youth soccer program at the expense of the recreational and club levels.

In an e-mail to the J-W, Trovato denied the allegation, saying the termination of his contract was “a board problem.” Trovato added he had filed a lawsuit against KVSA over his dismissal.

Trovato, who was dropped by KVSA last November, now works as director of coaching for the Alaska State Soccer Assn.

McDaniel assumed the KVSA post last weekend.

In the Monday J-W story, McDaniel’s name was misspelled, as was Trovato’s.
